On April 27th, 2012, the Paley Broadcast family, Ted, Carol and Ron Paley purchased the Digital Jukebox (DJB) software technology, customer database and other assets from Barcus LLC of Steubenville, OH. This asset acquisition, allowed the Paley’s to re-enter the radio automation software business after an 11 year absence from software ownership. A review of the Paley’s software acquisition events follows.

Since 1995, Digital Jukebox had grown to an active client base that exceeded 1000 users in numerous countries, although USA and Canada were the most dominant with stations running Digital Jukebox software. The original Digital Jukebox product of the early 90′s was DOS based and subsequently upgraded to Windows platform in the 2000′s. The Digital Jukebox “ONAIR” radio automation product already had the “Live & Local: feature set well in place thereby making it ideal for our future marketing plans.

In 2012, a new corporation DJB Software Inc. was formed by Ron and Ted Paley , a new USA business office was established in Las Vegas, NV and agreements were signed with Oakwood Broadcast and Ron Paley Broadcast for Canadian representation of Digital Jukebox.

Robert Parsons former of Oakwood MediaTouch & OMT,  would be a key part of the new management team acting as the Support & Development Manager. Joe Myers former of  the ENCO company,  also joined our marketing team as our Broadcast Systems Consultant.

Van Clough,  of iPROracks & BTM Inc. in Fayetteville, NC provided us with computer hardware design, integration and facilitation.  The Paley’s had worked with Van for many years during the Oakwood Media Touch days where a rack mounted computer solution for radio studios (that fit shallow racks) was designed along with being QUIET (no fan noise) for control room installations.

Virginia Crowe database technician took on building an interactive Support and Marketing database that organized all users of DJB software and hardware assets along with purchases and licensing activities going as far back as 2005. The database is also virtual giving all team members instant access for Support help and licensing of software whenever needed.

Ron Taylor President of Taylor Made Radio (TMR) joined our Support and Development team bringing with him his experience of site installation and programming training.
